The 331th regulation of the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology which regulates the toll rates for 2024, was published with legal validity in the Federal Law Gazette Part II of November 21, 2023.

Together with the amended Federal Road Toll Act 2002, a new basis for calculating tolls was introduced, as the costs of traffic-related CO₂ emissions are now being levied.

Compared to the previous year, the new 51 toll rates show a range of -0.17 % when comparing the night toll 2023, e-drive, 4 axles+, CO₂ group 5 to +14.18 % day toll 2023,
2 axles, EURO 4, CO₂ group 1.

The EURO 6, 4-axle+, CO₂ emission class 1 shows a toll increase of 7.42 percent.
