The toll system
In France, the truck toll charge is calculated based on the distance covered and the section of road used as well as on the vehicle class. Many tunnels and bridges also have toll fees. An independent, separately calculated truck toll charge across France can therefore not be calculated.
The rate structure for the covered kilometres is not based on a fixed rate applicable across France. The amount of the toll charge can therefore not be uniformly calculated.
The 11,000 kilometres of toll roads are administered by eleven different operators that are largely private.
